Example dimensions are prefilled. Replace them with your measurements.

Use your measured dimensions. Each dimension can use its own unit.

Every preset starts at the same generic 1,600 kg/m³ assumption. Your supplier’s density is more reliable. Sources and limits.

Layers & area settings
Additional cutouts & shape options

Numeric cutouts are additional to saved polygon holes. Do not subtract the same hole twice.

Order allowances5% extra

Extra covers handling and measurement uncertainty. Add a separate loose-volume factor only if the supplier says installed dimensions need it. Do not count compaction twice.

Independent calculator sections are added together. Confirm no footprint overlap. Density, delivery and material suitability need supplier confirmation. This is a planning worksheet, not an order placed.

How do you calculate a layered driveway?

Calculate area once, then multiply it by each layer’s thickness separately. For a 20 × 10 ft example, a 4 in base needs 2.4691 yd³ and a 2 in surface needs 1.2346 yd³ before extras. With 5% extra, those become 2.5926 and 1.2963 yd³. The example layers are not a structural specification.

Keep the base and surface materials separate

Enter a supplier density and price for each layer. Two materials can occupy the same footprint at different depths without being double-counted, but two named sections should cover different horizontal areas. Add a side turnout as a separate section only after checking the boundary.

Confirm depth, drainage and subgrade locally

Gravel thickness depends on the site and intended loading. This quantity tool does not design pavement or certify subgrade, drainage, slope or compaction. Ask a qualified local professional to specify a build-up for your site; then use those thicknesses here.
